I love Frank Ocean, and I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite albums while also experimenting with my first floral composition. At this point in my artistic journey, music labels were taking down my artwork although it’s in my right as an artist to create paintings of whatever inspires me! So I thought I’d be cheeky and cover the eyes of these musicians with one of my other favorite things to paint - flowers. This ended up becoming a huge hit and really defined how my style evolved to this day.
I chose to use a yellow background to pay homage to the “blonde” of the album’s name. And the florals for this piece were a set of somber white flowers to match the aesthetic of the original composition.
