Picturing the pain my loved ones would feel soothes me in a way I know is not healthy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThick black swatches of oil with floral motifs etched out of pink coloured pencil, one of my favourite combinations. Alongside motifs pulled from the saree fabric and the spiral, there is a new symbol: the toon. A caricatured version of myself, born out of my love of cartoons, carrying the feeling of nostalgia and filling a gap where people who look like me were never drawn.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTheir flatness is deliberate. They read as flat by the standards of how we perceive, but in a higher dimension that may be exactly how we look — and I am not willing to rule out what else might be possible for us.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe toons are a guide, ready to pull me out of the cycle. The large pink flower is the string of a kite, ready to reel me back in.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\/\/\/\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a 1 of 1 original.
